About the event

In 1981 the diplomat Baron Emanuele Scammacca del Murgo who was the Italian Ambassador at the Holy See, Bruxelles, Moscow and worked as the Assistant Secretary of the Estate of Foreign Affairs, decided to transform the ancient property of the family into a modern productive agricultural estate.

500 meters above the sea level, on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna in a privileged panoramic position you will find Murgo Winery. Aside from the very special and typical DOC Etna grapes Caricante, Catarratto, and Nerello Mascalese there are some original French varieties also well integrated into the 24,5 hectares terroir. Thanks to these special conditions of the volcanic soil which confers an intense minerality, we get elegant, complex and mineral wines, with an identity which differs from the Italian and international enological wines. The conduction of our vineyard is based on the priority use of natural techniques with a very low impact on the environment. Etna is one of the few regions in the world which still has a small amount of pre-phylloxera vines that survived the plague in the 19th century which produce very special fruits at a higher quality. The grapes are supple, earthy and electric due to the rich soil.

Taste our selection of five wines.

2 Spumante metodo classico VSQ
2 Vini ETNA DOC
2 Vini IGP TERRE SICIALIANE

Tasting will be served with a selection of Local Cheese and Local Cured Meat, Oliv Oil IGP, fresh bread and organic homemade Patè.

Our visit include an amazing walk to the Vineyard.
